Music Competitions

 Music Memorial Competition Winner is

Nancy Boomer Deussen

“Music From The Heartland” by Nancy Boomer Deussen "is the most ambitious of the finalist’s works," says music juror, Tony Fiorentino.
"It’s difficult to imagine a better choice of instruments to represent all of the necessary colors contained within. One can often pick up a fourth or fifth passage creating the skillful illusion that exudes more than the simple sum of three very musical melodies.  Earth, wind, fire and water are all represented here – recognizable and distinct from one another yet happy to be part of the meaningful and unpretentious dance. The composer’s vision of interplay speaks clearly, both in individual purpose and as an ensemble that creates a human appreciation of an American landscape.
In other words folks – I liked it because it had wholeness, harmony and radiance."

Juror Tony Fiorentino has been a professional musician since the early 1960’s. He has dedicated all of his life to playing, recording, engineering and producing just about every musical genre.
